Walter Hill Directs 'Goliath' Season 2 Opening & Closing Episodes

Walter Hill is set to direct two episodes of Amazon drama series Goliath, from David E. Kelley and Jonathan Shapiro. He’ll join new showrunner Clyde Phillips (Dexter) to helm the opening and closing episodes of the upcoming second season.

A veteran director of 20 feature films, Hill made a successful foray into television, winning both an Emmy and DGA Award for the Deadwood pilot. He also directed AMC’s Emmy-winning TV movie Broken Trail, for which he also won a DGA Award. Hill most recently directed neo-noir thriller The Assignment, which he co-wrote with Denis Hamill, set to be released by Saban Films on April 7.

Amazon Renews Goliath for Season 2

It was recently announced that Amazon has renewed Billy Bob Thornton’s drama “Goliath” for a second season.

From Variety:

“Dexter” and “Nurse Jackie” scribe Clyde Phillips will be taking the reins as showrunner and executive producer, joining the executive producer team that includes David E. Kelley, Jonathan Shapiro, and Ross Fineman. Kelley currently has a bit of a full plate: He is currently exec producing HBO’s “Big Little Lies” and is also launching AT&T Audience Network’s “Mr. Mercedes,” based on the Stephen King novel.

There is no word yet on the release date.

Still no confirmation on Season 2

While there is no official word from Amazon on the fate of 'Goliath', showrunner David E. Kelley remains optimistic that the show will be back for its second season.

Here's what he told Deadline Feb 4:

"We were told — you have to believe their own press releases — that it's their No. 1 show. That leads us to believe that we probably would be picked up for a second season."

You may recall that Billy Bob Thornton won a Golden Globe for his performance in 'Goliath', and many fans would be sorely disappointed if Amazon decided to forgo on a second season.
